This document, along with two appendicies, describes the regulatory framework for social housing in England and is applicable from 1 April 2012. This replaces the regulatory framework that came into effect on 1 April 2010.

The framework explains the principles of regulation, the standards that must be met and what can be done if they are not met.

Also included here is the Accounting Direction for social housing in England from April 2012, which sets out the way in which registered providers are required to present their annual accounts.
