Regeneration & renewal

HCA is supporting and accelerating the physical regeneration of under performing cities, towns and neighbourhoods, including rural communities, working closely with local authorities and other agencies involved in the wider regeneration task.

Revitalising areas where people are experiencing deprivation on a variety of measures, are suffering from worklessness, physical decline or market failure is a vital component in our work in creating mixed thriving communities. HCA is doing this through a range of programmes and projects in creating sustainable places where people want to live and can work, and businesses want to invest.

We are working to regenerate localities suffering economic decline across the country through a range of interventions ranging from working with Urban Regeneration Companies and Economic Development Companies through the National Coalfields and Land Stabilisation Programmes in former mining areas across England to the renewal and place-shaping of Estates.

HCA will provide support to local authorities to put communities at the heart of the design and delivery of regeneration.

Long term management of the many green and open spaces which are created is a vital element of place-shaping role We are working through the Land Restoration Trust as well as piloting other long term stewardship models to ensure entire communities can be truly sustainable.

The HCA is also continuing to work collaboration with local authorities and other strategic relationships across housing and regeneration to bring the former New Towns up-to-date and regenerate their town centres.
