Planning and places

Planning is the main way we shape places. Planning mediates the interests of different communities, environmental and heritage bodies, together with legal and technical requirements in making planning policy and individual planning decisions. It's therefore important to get the planning process right and make sure it works efficiently.

There are a number of resources available here, including many developed by the Advisory Team for Large Applications, which is part of the agency. These offer advice to help improve the effectiveness of the planning process, in particular dealing with large and complex planning applications.
