Milton Keynes Partnership works with local organisations to make projects happen and to secure funding for schemes that will benefit the whole of Milton Keynes.
On behalf of the HCA, the Milton Keynes Partnership (MKP) promotes land in the city to secure the development of new homes, business premises and community facilities. The Invest Milton Keynes team is responsible for bringing new businesses and jobs to the city and helping existing businesses grow.
In 2008/09 the aims of the partnership are to:
As the local planning authority, MKP is responsible for determining major planning applications in the eastern, western and northern expansion areas of Milton Keynes. Its planning powers are outlined in the MKP statutory remit.
Milton Keynes Council remains in charge of determining planning applications for the rest of the borough and for minor applications in the expansion areas. The council is also responsible for planning across the whole borough and for creating policy on all issues, including transport, parking and open spaces, which MKP and other organisations must adhere to.
Milton Keynes Partnership Committee (MKPC) is a committee of the HCA created to co-ordinate and implement the delivery of growth and ensure that homes, infrastructure, jobs and community facilities are provided as part of a joined-up approach. The MKP Committee includes representatives from Milton Keynes Council, the HCA and the local strategic partnership, along with independently appointed members.
