Land supply

We aim to increase the supply of land for quality, sustainable housing while minimising greenfield development.

Making better use of surplus land held by central and local government is creating a much needed supply of land for new development and speeding up the delivery of new homes. We work with the government and local authorities to develop brownfield and surplus public sector land and drive the delivery of new homes and communities.

Brownfield land

We advise the government on brownfield land and are responsible for delivering the National Brownfield Strategy. We support local authorities in developing strategies for developing and managing brownfield land and driving improvements in skills related to brownfield sites.

Surplus Public Sector Land

We work closely with the government and local authorities to develop surplus public sector land for new and affordable housing. We manage the Register of Surplus Public Sector Land which provides a single reference point for public sector agencies on the national supply of available land.

Land Restoration Trust

The Land Restoration Trust restores derelict, neglected or under-used land and maintains it for people and nature in the form of publicly accessible green spaces.
