The fastest growing region in England, the East Midlands is tackling issues including housing growth, regeneration and renewal.
The East Midlands region comprises the counties of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. The region is predominantly rural in character with 88 per cent rural land, including the Peak District National Park, but it also features urban areas and three major cities. The East Midlands includes areas of deprivation and places which are experiencing economic restructuring, such as the former coalfield communities.
The southern sub-area of the East Midlands is part of the Milton Keynes South Midland (MKSM) Growth Area, where large scale housing growth is planned.

The National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP) funding is allocated through a process of continuous market engagement. Our quarterly regional investment statements set out the proportion of this funding that has been allocated for each region.
To help developers hoping to receive funding from the HCA to deliver their commitments to the employment and skills agenda, the East Midlands region has set up an Employment Working Group to provide support for offering apprenticeships and job opportunities, and offer advice on employing individuals from more challenging but rewarding groups. The contacts provide a single point of reference to provide support in developing Employer Statements and their subsequent Employment Plans.
