The East of England is building on a solid foundation of successful delivery in housing and regeneration to meet future economic and housing growth needs.
The HCA recognises that delivery must be sustained throughout difficult market conditions in order to meet the demands of the future. We are working with private and public sector organisations in the East of England region to secure the best deals for local areas.
Our priorities
Our priorities for the East of England are to:
- re-imagine the way we deliver our housing and regeneration needs, through the Single Conversation and by working with partners to create places and communities through capital investment.
- deliver integrated solutions for new affordable housing and maximising our opportunities to increase housing supply and create sustainable communities for the future
- increase housing supply through strategic housing projects, regenerating new towns, developing brownfield land and investing in infrastructure.
Our activities
Our current activities in the East of England include:
- Norwich Single Conversation: A ground-breaking partnership for the HCA which will see £8m on invested in the City, creating a supply of new homes and jobs over a 12-year period.
- Harlow Gateway: A n investment in the Harlow Gateway Partnership which will provide approximately 590 housing units in total, of which approximately a third will be affordable / first-time buyers’ homes, and brand new leisure facilities.
- City Beach, Southend on Sea: Part of the Thames Gateway regeneration project, our investment will help regenerate the seafront. A further £7m was granted for lighting which will help boost tourism and regenerate the City Beach area.
- Cambridge Challenge: This national pilot is delivering 3,300 new affordable homes across three strategic growth sites, including the new Northstowe settlement.
- Carbon Challenge: Our zero-carbon pilot project in Peterborough is the second in the country and will provide 344 new homes, of which 35 per cent will be affordable, while meeting Level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
