Urban Living - Birmingham and Sandwell
The Urban Living housing market renewal pathfinder area is located in the north-west of Birmingham and the east of Sandwell.
The area of Birmingham and Sandwell covered by the pathfinder experienced a fall in population of 5.5 per cent between 1991 and 2001.
A defining feature of the area is its large and rapidly growing black and ethnic minority community. In 2001, 65 per cent of the area’s inhabitants were from black and ethnic minority backgrounds, with 58 per cent of this population aged 29 or under. The area is a focal point for international migrants.
